The Medical Association of Dental Educators at work

For years now GSADE was focused on helping diabetes educators to spread the word about the disease that effects so many Americans to our association members. Times have changed though and we’re now also focusing more of our time and attention to the entire medical community and ensuring education across multiple disciplines. One such area we’ll be delving more into is compliance with HIPAA regulations and educating the medical community on how to get and stay compliant.

When it comes to HIPAA Compliance, an alarming number of medical professionals, like dentists, have no idea how to become and remain compliant. And the numbers are even worse with orthodontists according the state of California! But there is hope and that hope comes from GSADE.org.

We’re dedicated to helping every dental professional not only understand what HIPAA stands for (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability), but also showing them how they can stay in the good graces of the Federal Government by maintaining their HIPAA Compliance scores. If you’ve never had a HIPAA audit done, now is the time. Learn more about health education work we do in North America.

In the near future, the GSADE.org development team will be bringing out our FREE HIPAA Compliance Audit software that will make testing and compliance as easy as pushing a button. Say good bye to potential federal fines and say hello to keeping your dental practice in compliance.

We will also continue our health organization work on Diabetes and educating the public about the disease that affects so many of us here in the Untied States. Like before, lifestyle changes are the number one way to combat Diabetes…

Did Your Family Doctor Go to the Right Medical School

In the US some of the health care plans mandate you to have a family care physician. Also people prefer family doctors because they know your family members medical history thoroughly. But how will you make sure that the doctor of your choice is a qualified physician and he studied in a reputed school and his back ground? Here are few tips.

1. Credentialing

You should check the back ground of your family doctor by credentialing. It is the process of evaluating the qualification and working experience of a doctor. In this process you will check the doctor’s education, training, residency and his practice license. For example, if you were researching cosmetic dentists, you would want to review any and all certifications issued by a medical board in the doctor’s specialization area. This process is conducted by Aetna before permitting a doctor to join the Aetna network.

This is not a onetime process instead they do it on a regular basis. Meaning they reviews doctors’ credentials regularly. There are standards set by the states, regulatory bodies and accrediting organizations. One of such regulatory body is the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

2. Check whether your doctor is Board Certified

When selecting your family doctor try to choose one who is Board Certified by ABMS Member Boards. ABMS board certification guarantees that doctor meets nationally recognized standards for education, just like this dentist that focuses on dental care. They also certify doctor’s knowledge, experience and skills in the area of his medical specialty.

3. Is the Doctor Licensed? Does he have any red marks in his career?

Each state provides license to doctors allowing them to practice with in the state. You can check this license at your state’s physician licensing board site. Without this license, no doctor is allowed to practice medicine.

A red flag on a family doctor can be anything from an attitude issue, an unclean office or malpractice. To find out medical malpractice done by a doctor you can do some general searches as described in ‘How to Find a Doctor’s Medical Malpractice Track Record.’
